The Prince of Wales will represent the COP30 climate summit in Brazil in the coming weeks, as confirmed by royal officials.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday evening at a reception leading up to the environmental conference, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.

The King and Prince were in attendance at the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering co-hosted by the UK government.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

King Charles has been a long-time champion of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be held in Brazil preceding the UN meeting.

Official representatives have described William's involvement at the next COP as assuming an important role in "environmental negotiations".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the official car, were introduced to participants featuring environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and government officials.

This participation featured addresses alongside President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other global statesmen at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco in recent months.

Environmental Prize Connection

The COP30 summit will align with the William's personal sustainability recognition program, which will finish in the Brazilian city the previous day he joins the climate conference on the sixth of November.

Last week the royal figure referred to the Earthshot finalists as "contemporary champions".

Monarch's Environmental Record

The monarch has been a influential participant at past COP meetings, providing the introductory remarks in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"For decades I've committed a substantial portion of my life trying to warn of the existential threats challenging our world over climate change, environmental shifts and ecological decline," the monarch informed attendees.
